This is a recipe that was made at a baby shower I attended several years ago and has become a standard dessert in my house. It’s rich and moist, and oh so addicting.

Great for a Sunday brunch…or for my daughter’s birthday. (Oh come on, it’s cake! Not nearly enough alcohol to make her drunk. I use Benadryl for that. I’m kidding, I’m kidding.)

Kahlua Coffee Cake
Serves 16-20
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 45 minutes

Ingredients
Cake
• 1 package dark chocolate cake mix
• 1 (4 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding
• 1 cup vegetable oil
• 4 eggs
• 3/4 cup brewed coffee
• 1/4 cup crème de cocoa
• 1/3 cup Kaluha
Icing
• 1 cup powdered sugar
• 2 tablespoons brewed coffee
• 2 tablespoons Kaluha
• 2 tablespoons crème de cocoa

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Combine all the ingredients for the cake in a medium bowl; beat until smooth.

Pour into a greased bundt pan and bake 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool slightly; remove from pan onto a serving plate.
Prepare the icing by combining all the ingredients until smooth. With a skewer, punch holes throughout the cake and pour the icing over the cake while it is still warm.

I’ve made this cake twice now and each time it’s gotten rave reviews. Thanks for the excellent recipe. Your mom introduced me to your blog (I’m the mom of one of her students and I adore her). I love reading your great entries. I’m working my way through your recipes — all are very good!

You all are killing me! I needed the afternoon giggles, though. What I would like to know is…Amy, are you making this again on February 21st? Huh? Huh?

This sounds decadent and can’t wait to try it. What a great dessert for a pot luck. I have a recipe that uses one box of chocolate cake mix with one container of chocolate frosting mixed into the batter. It is very good, but this one sounds even better.

Per Mike’s comment, this might be the PG-13 page of Amy’s blog. As for the cake – this is my kind of kitchen activity, easy. Made from a mix, instant pudding, coffee and Kaluha!? I’ll wash it down with my Irish Whiskey coffee.

Regarding Paul’s comment: “Goo”? “Magical runoff”? “Two-finger swipe”? What kind of blog IS this?!?!?!

This is one of those “clean the goo off the plate” types of cakes. You finish the cake, then there is the magical runoff, a mixture of sugar and frosting and yumminess.

I find the “two-finger swipe” the best method for polishing that tray clean.

This is a delicious cake, delicious with a capital “OOOOOH!”

LOL. Well, addicting in the “I WANT more” sense. Not so much “I NEED more, or I’ll die” sense. On second thought….

Addicting? Just what exactly is in this cake!?
