Lora – I’ve got a lot of pressure in my own house to do this, lemme tell ya. Do I really want to go through all the headache and expense of travel, though, to compete against thousands of others?
Dani – My kitchen has the most inefficient ventilation system that I almost never fry anything. Probably better for my hips, but…I need one of those odor absorbing screens, too. Isn’t that Banana Bunker a riot? I forgot to tweet it, so I’m glad you did!
Love your Small Bites, Amy. I DO want an odor absorbing splatter screen. I haven’t cooked fish since I moved into my apartment March 2008 because of the lingering smell. I love the 3-tier oven companion. And thanks for the link to http://www.organize.com. Plates, cups, and glasses have gotten larger along with portion sizes.
Okay, I just had to tweet the banana bunker, but I didn’t credit you for the link. :P Hope 2010 is off to a great start for you, hon! *hugs*
Awesome! And now I have even more books on my wishlist(s)…. :)
These lists are always fun, Amy. Good job. The portion size article was really interesting. The thing is, I bet if you go back 40 years, many of the portions were even smaller than they were 20 years ago.
Amy…. Gordon Ramsey is practically calling you! Time for the big time! Go get’em. (Might make a CA house more affordable!)
There’s hope. CoCo the Clown died, and that’s sad. But Jack from Jack in the Box got run over by a bus during the Super Bowl, and he’s back. However, the marbles in that big head make more noise than they used to.
Other than that, I don’t want an odor absorbing splatter screen. I want the kitchen to smell of bacon and whatever else you’re frying.
Last, I already bought my bumper sticker that says, “My daughter is an honors chef at the Gordon Ramsey Academy.” It’s on the other bumper that says, “My daughter came THIS close to being an honors student at Bancroft Elementary.”
Happy New Year Amy!
Ah, my favorite time of the month – when you do your news round up. You always find the best links/stories. Those food phobias were funny/weird, love the fruits and veggies seasonal guide, and all the product finds. And what’s up with all the banana accessories?! LOL.
Interesting list, as usual. I’ll probably be checking out the Michael Ruhlman book “Ratio.”
I guess we need to use salad plates for dinner and serve lunch on a saucer! I’m not kidding.
Thank god for this. Now I’ve got something to do with my time this morning. I’m especially intrigued by the Gordon Ramsay/Biggest Loser amateur chef casting call…
Happy New Year Amy!
