Super Bowl Pretzel Rings

So, I hear there’s this football game coming up. The Wonderbowl? No wait…that’s not it. The Splendidbowl? No no. That’s not it either.

Forgive me while I amuse myself over here.

I could care less about football. I do, however, join the millions of people who look forward to the Super Bowl. Clearly not for the game, though…show me those funny commercials and pass me the chicken wings. Woot!

Or, pass me a bowl of these babies. The perfect sweet and salty combo. And so easy to make, it’s ridiculous. Plus you can assemble as few or as many to accommodate the size of your crowd.

Here’s the catch. I searched high and low for these round pretzel rings and couldn’t find them anywhere near my house. I even had trouble finding them online. But I’m tenacious and don’t give up easily. When I found them, I bought…a lot.

And you all get to benefit from my desperation.

The Giveaway
3 lucky readers (U.S. and Canadian Residents only) have a chance to win a 9 ounce bag (which holds approx. 150 pretzel rings – I counted!)

There are three ways to enter: (1) leave a comment on this blog (2) go “like” us on Facebook or (3) Already a fan? Just leave a comment on The Wall.

The drawing closes on Friday, January 28th at 7pm PST.

p.s. if you don’t end up being a lucky winner, and you can’t find them at your local stores, you can order some from Ballreich’s online, here.

UPDATE 1/29/11:
There were so many entrants, I just couldn’t resist pulling one extra bag out of my stash! So the winners are (blog) Adam Friedman and Devon and (Facebook) Bobette McCann and Brenda Stewart. Now all you have to do is go buy yourselves some Hershey’s Kisses and M&Ms. Congrats!

Superbowl Pretzel Rings
Makes as many as you want!
Prep time: 10 minutes/per 50
Cook time: 2 minutes
Cooling time: 15 minutes

Ingredients
• Round pretzels
• Hershey kisses (I used milk chocolate)
• M&M’s

Directions
Preheat the oven to 350.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place kisses on baking sheet and drop a pretzel ring over each one.

Pop them in the oven for 2 minutes. (Just until they get soft, but not until they melt. You want them to retain their shape.) As soon as they come out of the oven, gently place an M&M on top of the kiss and push down slightly to fill the pretzel with chocolate.

Stick the baking sheet in the refrigerator until they firm up. Store in an airtight container.

Hi Ann – I couldn’t exactly say without seeing what you have, since there are different makers/brands. I buy Ballreich’s and the inside of the ring is about 1 inch. The kiss should fit with a little bit of room around it. Once cooked for the 2 minutes, it will fill up the hole after you press the M&M down gently.

I bet these are awesome. I make something very simular. I use smal regular pretzels and put a rollo on top, then in the oven just long enough for the rollo to melt into the prtezel. Yummy! We will give these a try as well, I know they will be great!

I got my pretzles and made these in green and gold (Go Pack Go!). Instead of regular M&M’s, I used peanut butter M&M’s. They were gone within minutes! Thank you for the great recipe ~ and for sending me the pretzles :)

YAY! And your team won. How awesome. Great idea with the peanut M&Ms. You could use different kisses, too. The possibilities are practically endless!
