Video: Inception Movie Parody (Reduction)

We just recently watched the movie Inception. What is that, nine months late? Don’t judge. Hey, we have little kids…and a lot of laundry.

So, um…wowza. Loved it. Loved it so much, Paul immediately turned to me and said, “You know we have to do a video parody of this, right?” To which I replied, “But, of course.”

Click on the video to see the world premiere of our movie trailer, Reduction.

Obviously we cannot fly through space or call the city to demolish a building, all in the name of a Very Culinary video, but watch below and see how close we recreated the trailer shot for shot.

Pretty cool, eh?

If all of this is completely lost on you, here’s the link to the original Inception movie trailer. Rent it! You’ll be talking about it for days afterward.

And what about Paul’s shirt?! How much do you need one of those? We got it from Snorg Tees. Click here to get one of your own.

How did I miss this? Haven’t seen the movie but did watch the trailer for it first, then both your videos. You missed your calling, Amy ~ I bet you’d have an Oscar by now if you had become an actress!!

Thanks, Dani! This video took a long time to make and Paul is pretty proud of it, so all the praise is welcomed!

THIS IS SO FREAKIN’ AWESOME! I found it linked off of the dailywh.at …. what a treat! :>) We’re Inception fans, too… my husband and kids made this a while ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlabWmMXRnQ

Yours was great fun too, Lori! Love the toy guns and spinning top…and the dog cameo. If my kids were older, they would have surely found their way in. Maybe for the sequel! Ha.

Greetings Dino – I think my head would burst if Daniel Tosh ever actually mentioned this video on his show. In the meantime, I’ll just enjoy my brief moment on his blog. Can’t ask for more then that, right? Thanks so much for stopping by and the wonderful compliment! If I can make milk come out someone’s nose, then I’ve done my job :D

This is absolutely amazing!! The entire thing is just so phenomenally well done, but when you said “I think I found my way onto the Food Network,” I starting laughing so hard I think I injured myself. ;) Great work!

This is one of the most magnificent things I have EVER seen and I don’t think there could have been a better “Early Bird Special” on the Daily What to wake up to! Kudos!

Amy March 9, 2011 at 7:59 am

Greetings Katherine! I know we’re late to the game, but we just saw the movie and thought it would be fun to do. And it was! Thank you so much for your kind words and stopping by to tell me. Being featured on The Daily What and your comment have made my morning :D

“You should be reducing!!!” OMG I laughed so hard. You guys are amazing. I haven’t seen the movie yet either, but I totally get the video. One question? Who is doing your camera work when you and Paul are in the frames?? One of the kids? LOL

Reply

Amy March 9, 2011 at 7:03 am

It’s the effect of a two camera shot, but believe it or not, we actually lock down one camera and take turns with our roles. And then the magic of editing comes into play. It’s the trickiest (and most work) of the videos.

Out of all the videos I’ve posted, you are the first to ask that question. I have been waiting! So you win door #3! Lol.

Sylvie @ Gourmande in the Kitchen March 9, 2011 at 2:23 am

How do you guys come up with these? They are amazing, you always make me laugh so hard with your videos. I’m going to show my husband this, he’s a movie buff so I’m sure he’s gonna love this!

You two are something else, you know that? My favorite part was definitely Paul: “Like a sous chef?” Great job guys…you never cease to amaze me!

P.S. I STILL haven’t seen Inception. I need to remedy that!

Reply

Amy March 8, 2011 at 7:21 pm

Catch phrase over on Twitter is “You should be reducing! What’s wrong with you?!!” Really fun… Definitely rent the movie!

On the first video, I started laughing when Paul said “like a sous chef?” and never stopped.

But then I watched the second video and I was speechless. You guys are the greatest thing ever. Love this soooooo so so much. Wow.

(also, I love Inception so much that I still choked up when I saw that shot of Dom and Mal on the bridge… so tragic what happened to them…)

Amy March 8, 2011 at 3:36 pm

Paul’s such a perfectionist and was really striving to get it as close as possible, so this comment meant a lot to him. Thank, M.
