Do You Pin?

It’s Saturday, I know. Sometimes things can’t wait until Tuesday or my head will explode.

You know all those folders you have – one for home decorating, birthday party ideas, traveling, and one for all the recipes you must try? Imagine if they were all on your computer. Arranged and looking lovely.

That’s Pinterest – a virtual cork board.

You can create different boards, suited to your interests, and pin to your heart’s content. Follow people who share your interests, comment, like, or repin their stuff. It’s such a great way to organize the things you want to learn, try, make, and dream about.

Yet another brilliant idea that I did not come up with. How many of us have been saying that?!

Very Culinary is now on Pinterest. I resisted at first – all the images, categories, another new platform to learn, and time to waste that I don’t have. But I was like a moth to a flame who couldn’t stay away. And now I’m addicted, like everyone else.

Although I am past the pinning frenzy and finally at a comfortable cruising altitude, I share my friend Sherrill’s sentiment, “I wish I could spend 12 hours a day on Pinterest and the other 12 hours making stuff I see on there.” Yep.

Follow along, won’t you?

I resisted at first too. It’s just an explosion of all things I love though. I could swim in Pinterest. And eat my way through Pinterest. lol.

Just started following you! :)

I know. I get lost on there and then realize an hour has gone by and I didn’t blink! Following your pins, too Aggie!

I tried to get an account, and I never heard from them. :o(

I’ve heard that from a few people. Hold on…I’ll send you an invite.

Last night I spent the better part of two hours doing nothing but pinning.

Yep. My friend Sherrill also suggested setting a timer…or you’ll look up and it’s dark!

This looks very interesting, but you realize I sometimes barely have time to check out all my email. I need more hours in my day.

Pinterest is in the lead with my numbers now too, I LOVE it! While my goal is not self promotion, I am slowly trying to put my recipes index through pinterest so that people can see pictures. I have found SO many ideas on pinterest and I love to ‘share the love’ and pin for people. Such a great idea, why didn’t WE think of it first!?

I do get a ton of traffic from FG and TS, but unlike them, Pinterest doesn’t play by the same rules. People have no problem pinning 25 cookies in row! A recipe index is a great idea. I’m thinking of adding a board for all the things I make/try, but don’t actually post.

I pin to profess now. It’s like blogging in nanoseconds– if we use the old adage of a picture is worth a thousand words, then boards are short-cuts that tell our stories.

To me, it’s the newest language/communication vehicle that allows us to easily share who we are, what we love, what we seek and what we believe. And by allowing us to define our own boards– we have total control to create ourselves visually. I am in total lust with it! It makes me feel alive; it’s so inspirational! I’m so glad you’re playing. I love seeing what you want to cook or eat and what you think is funny.

My dear Kim, you nailed it. Of course! You have such a gift for words. As for my “funny” board…I kept it quite tame. I don’t think the world (or my mother!) is ready for ALL the things that make me laugh.

Well, I just explained it, silly! ;-)

This is the first time I’m hearing about it…..I think John would appreciate me not being on sites that don’t cost him money….LOL…Dang, Facebook isn’t even safe from that, I just had a friend of my niece TRY to hit me up for some kind of fragrance stuff….

Well, it doesn’t cost anything to join. It’s more like window shopping! Which is torture.

Why, yes, I am on Pinterest. And I follow each and every one of your lovely boards! And I hear you on the “I wish I had 12 hours…”

I’m curious if Tastespotting and Foodgawker have seen a decrease in traffic with Pinterest around? I don’t think bloggers will stop submitting but the browsers might go to Pinterest now instead.

I don’t know, but I think it’s certainly stolen their thunder (not that either of them with millions of views each month is anything to worry about!) I have noticed that Pinterest is currently in the lead with my own traffic.
