I don’t really love bananas. I never have. But I buy them all the time, and force myself to eat them, because they’re a fruit, and good for me, and easy, and come prepackaged, and portable…blah blah. But I don’t really love them.
(Clearly I have no future as a Chiquita representative.)
I do like them in things, though. Banana bread, banana pie, banana pudding, a banana ice cream sundae. I see a pattern.
So it came as no surprise that I liked them in this smoothie. It’s sweet, with a hint of coffee and cocoa flavor – good energy boost in the morning to start your day.
Probably would have liked it even more if it was topped with whipped cream. And chocolate. But then I suppose it would be a Banana Dessert Smoothie. Hmmm.
Banana Breakfast Smoothie
Serves 2
Prep time: 5 minutes
Ingredients
• 2 (6 ounce) containers of vanilla yogurt
• 1 large banana, frozen and chopped
• 1 teaspoon finely ground coffee
• 1 1/2 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder
Directions
Place all ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth. Easy peasy!
NOTE: Freeze your banana ahead of time by slicing, then placing in a single layer on a lined baking sheet. Freeze until firm and then transfer to a small resealable bag.

This recipe is such a gift. I’m SO not a banana person either but I want to be because they are so good for runners to eat! If I add whipped cream I can basically convince myself that I’m eating dessert for breakfast. Which will basically convince me that this is the best thing ever. (other than the deliciousness that is). I love how you enable me.

Smoothies are our dessert lately. So good in the warm weather but low-cal, so YAY. We prefer bananas IN things, too. ;P

I am a banner hater except in smoothies, it is the one thing that makes them creamy and hides all the greens I put in them.
I am too! I can only eat bananas when they’re mixed into something. I love the taste but hate the texture of bananas :(
