Hawaiian Pork Sliders | Very Culinary

The second I saw these, I knew I’d be bumping something else off of the current week’s planned for and already bought ingredients. I needed to make them - with some modifications, but nonetheless, they were getting made asap. Sometimes your taste buds cannot…will not…be denied.

I’m so used to beef burgers, that not only was this a wonderful change of pace (and taste! and texture!), but the simple seasonings and added pineapple with barbecue sauce was just…a little part of my heart leapt for joy after each bite. I seriously dreamt about these for days afterward.

Go grill some up! They are way too delicious, easy, and quick not to.

This certainly won’t be my last grilling recipe of the summer, but it is the final OXO giveaway. Haven’t they been awesome?! No video this time (I’m pretty sure you all know how to use tongs and a spatula, amiright?), but we are going out with a bang.

You have a chance to win an entire glorious OXO grilling set. *cue angels singing* The silicone on the basting brush prevents marinades from sliding off the bristles, and the wood-handles feature retractable hanging hooks that slide out of sight when not in use. How cool is that?

Here’s how you can throw your hat in the ring…

Hawaiian Pork Sliders
Makes 8
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 15 minutes

Ingredients
• 1 1/2 pounds ground pork
• 1/2 cup minced scallions
• 3/4 teaspoon ground ginger
• sprinkle of salt and pepper
• 8 pineapple rings
• 1/2 cup of your favorite barbecue sauce
• mayonnaise (optional)
• 8 King’s Hawaiian rolls

Directions
In a large bowl, using your hands, mix the pork, scallions, ground ginger, salt and pepper until just combined. Don’t over mix! Gently form 8 equal patties, with a slight indentation in the middle (this helps keep the burgers from bulging in the middle.)

Preheat your grill for medium-high. Coat the grates with oil or nonstick cooking spray. Place the pork patties on the hot grill and lightly coat tops with barbecue sauce. Cover the grill and cook for about 5 minutes. Flip the burgers and coat with more barbecue sauce.

After you’ve flipped the burgers, place the pineapple rings down on the grill. Cook the burgers for another 4-5 minutes, until cooked through. Cook the pineapple rings for about 3 minutes, or until you have nice grill marks on one side. Flip the pineapple and grill another 1-2 minutes. Remove the pineapple and burgers from the grill and let them rest 5 minutes.

While the meat is resting, toast the rolls on the hot grill until the edges brown nicely, about 1-2 minutes.

Spread a tad more barbecue sauce (and mayo, like I did…gasp!) on the rolls, add the burger patty and a pineapple ring, then the other roll. Serve immediately.

So glad he loved them. We do, too. It’s hard to eat just one. Or even two!
