Over here, anything with dill pickles gets our attention. Close attention. Sometimes gazing off into space, deep in thought of how good it’s going to taste. This and this are both made often. By request. And this sandwich is about to join them. 3 is not a crowd! 

There are just no words to tell you how much we all loved these sandwiches. Not only do you have the sloppy joe mixture. Yum. But you make grilled cheese with it? Brilliant. AND you add dill pickles. I faint.

Dill Pickle Sloppy Joe Grilled Cheese
Makes 6 whole sandwiches
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 20 minutes

Ingredients
• 1 pound ground beef
• 1 small sweet onion, diced
• 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
• 1 teaspoon mustard
• 1/2 cup ketchup
• 2 teaspoons brown sugar
• salt and pepper
• 2-3 whole dill pickles, roughly diced
• 12 slices white bread
• 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
• butter

Directions
In a large non-stick skillet, over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef and onions until no pink remains, about 3 minutes. Drain off any grease. Stir in garlic powder, mustard, ketchup, and brown sugar. Mix well. Season with salt and pepper. Add dill pickles and mix to combine. Transfer sloppy joe mixture to a bowl and set aside.

Wipe out your skillet and return pan to medium heat. Spread butter over one side of a slice of bread. Place butter side down into the skillet, top with a little cheese, 1/2 cup sloppy joe mix, and additional cheese, and finish with another buttered slice of bread, butter side up.

Cook in the skillet until lightly browned on the bottom, about 1-2 minutes, and flip over. Continue cooking until the other side has browned and the cheese has melted, another minute or so. Repeat with remaining sandwiches. Serve right away with dill pickles on the side.

Just made this tonight, my hubby loved it but picked out the pickles lol. Other than that he loved it. Thank you for this great recipe

My daughter has become particularly choosey about what she eats. She doesn’t like soup, no longer likes grilled cheese, won’t eat things that are mixed or “look weird”. When this hit the table tonight I got a wary eyed, ” I don’t think I’m gonna like this…” But after the first bite, there was an enthusiastic “YUMMO!!” and then it was all gone. We all loved it!
YAY!

Awesome! I remember Haley groaned and Trevor pouted the first time this graced my table, but one bite in and they were hooked. This is one of Paul’s favorites…I make it all the time :D

Wow–this sounds like a Sloppy Joe I would thoroughly enjoy. I don’t think I’ve ever craved a Sloppy Joe, in fact, until this very moment, gazing at that picture . . .
