Top 15 Author Favorites for 2013 | Very Culinary

Now it’s my turn to pick some favorites!

From year to year, there’s usually some overlap between what my reader’s love and what I love (I mean, come on, my reader’s have great taste! Pun intended…hardee har har.) But my list for 2013 doesn’t have any duplicates. Possibly because this year, along with the food, I included some personal posts that mean a lot to me for one reason or another.

Here we go!

Easy Chinese Orange Beef Stir-Fry - classic, easy, delicious, one-pan stir fry is my life.

Pasta e Ceci - comfort food at its best right here.

Halloween Edible Earwax on a Swab – these were a little too gross for the public. But I think they are absolute genius.

Make Ahead Breakfast Enchiladas - Thursdays are our super late night with kids’ activities. If I didn’t have something prepped in advance for dinner, we’d be eating at 9pm. This is one of my go-to’s. All the time. The versatility of it keeps it fresh.

10 Ways To Save Money on Your Grocery Bill – this isn’t a sexy post, but is thoughtful and took me the longest to write. These tips are tried and true for anyone looking to save money.

Fig Balsamic Olives – I brought these to a party and three olive haters came up to me and asked for the recipe. That’s how good they are.

Peach Smoothie - I could drink this every single day and never get tired of it. Ever.

Video: Spouse Appreciation DayThe Not-So-New Newlywed Game.  This is so me and Paul. All of it. And it just makes me happy.

Hawaiian Grilled Chicken Sandwiches – we’re in love with these. Something this easy shouldn’t be so good. But it is. I make these all the time.

Chocolate-Almond Steel Cut Oatmeal – If I’m not making eggs or pancakes, I’m usually making oatmeal. And it’s usually this. And I usually don’t want to share.

Roasted Acorn Squash with Onion, Grapes, & Thyme – I made this four days in a row. And then I made it again the following week. The end.

Video: “Royals” Parody (“Bagels”) – Ah, my Paul. In his infinite brilliance. It’s hard to pick a favorite video parody of his, but this is definitely at the top!

Strawberry Shortcake Scones – I make these almost every other weekend. Or when Trevor needs bribing. Works like a charm every time.

(Copycat) Applebee’s Asian Chicken Salad – my favorite salad, how I love thee. Winter ain’t going to get in between me and a plate of deliciousness.

Saying Goodbye – this post. This post isn’t my favorite because it makes me feel good. It’s my favorite because it has the most meaning. Loss of any kind is very difficult to deal with. I’m still dealing. Even though I said goodbye to Ebi back in August…well, I’m crying right now typing this. I miss her so much.

Ebi

Thank you, everyone. For following, reading, supporting, and cooking with me all year long. I love you to the moon and back!

I’m looking at you, 2014. You ready for me?

Dang it! I’m crying, too. Sigh. That’s ok. I’d much rather be like us than like my dad who doesn’t “do” animals. Love this list!

Thank you, Julie. Can’t believe how hard it still is to write about. Missing my sweet girl, always. Animals are the best!
