Heads-up burger lovers! July is your month hosted by Kita from Girl Carnivore – 31 days of bloggers sharing different recipes. It probably goes without saying that my menu the last two weeks has pretty much been taken over by burgers. #notcomplaining.

There are some great giveaways too, so be sure to scroll to the bottom of this post to see what’s up for grabs and enter!

Half-way through and it’s finally my turn. Woot.

Favorite thing about being a homeowner? Having a yard. Favorite thing about having a yard? Owning a grill. Love my grill.

I have two favorite burgers that I make frequently – my Barbecue Onion Burger, and this one.

Jerk Turkey Burgers with Mango

Jamaican “jerk” seasonings pair with sweet mango and honey, along with tangy barbecue sauce, to transform ordinary ground turkey into something zesty and perfect for summer!

Jerk Turkey Burgers with Mango
Serves 4
Prep time: 15 minutes
Chill time: 1 hour
Cook time: 15 minutes

• 1 ripe mango peeled and cut into large chunks
• 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
• 2 tablespoons honey
• 1 tablespoon lime juice
• 1 1/2 teaspoons Jerk seasoning
• 1/4 cup minced scallions
• 1/3 cup plain breadcrumbs
• 1 pound ground turkey
• 4 buns
• olive oil

In a food processor, blender together the mango, BBQ sauce, honey, lime juice, and jerk seasoning. Add 1/4 cup of this mixture, the scallions, and breadcrumbs to the ground turkey; mix well. Shape into 4 flat patties and brush both sides well with oil. Place in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

Preheat grill for medium-high. Oil the grill grates well and cook burgers for 6 minutes per side or until cooked through. (Turn carefully so burgers do not fall apart.)

Place on buns with remaining sauce and fixings of your choice!

My mouth is watering just reading the recipe!

Thanks, Lisa!

I am all for a good turkey burger, but this is a whole new level. I love that sauce, it sounds good good. A little sweet with a little spicy, yum!

Amy @Very Culinary July 30, 2014 at 12:14 pm

You’d love these, Erin!

Amy: I made these last week, using a little jalapeno hot sauce with the mango mixture. Milo liked them a lot and so did Naveen, which is amazing because there was no rice or curry involved. In fact, it was a triumph. Or was it a miracle? ( I made super-thin fried sweet potato slices too, and they were great in the mango sauce. ) Thanks!

That’s awesome, Andrea. You know when I hear a young kid liked my food, it’s the highest compliment!

Well I am definitely jealous of your yard AND your grill. Maybe one day I’ll have one of those two…with living in NYC having both is probably asking for a little too much! Love that you added both sweet and spicy to these!

I made a Mexican-seasoned turkey burger with cilantro and queso fresco in the burger itself. Topped it with jack cheese, avocado, and fresh salsa.

Erin @ The Spiffy Cookie July 17, 2014 at 10:52 am

Oooh yum! I bet this would be good with the mango mustard from El Diablo.

Amy @Very Culinary July 17, 2014 at 7:25 pm

YES. I need to get my hands of some of that!

Joanna July 16, 2014 at 1:17 pm

Turkey burger, avocado, chipotle aioli!

Amy @ Amy's Healthy Baking July 15, 2014 at 2:22 pm

I can’t wait to get a grill! Although that might have to wait a while, seeing as I don’t know whether we’re moving into an apartment or house in September… Sigh. But if we have a backyard, a grill would be the first thing on my list! :) As for an epic burger creation, I’m thinking something tropical… Like with grilled pineapple, BBQ sauce, and maybe some sort of ham too. Your mango in your burger inspired me!

Last night I made cremini mushroom burgers, they were great. Thanks for the giveaway.

These look amazing! I’m such a sucker for jerk seasoning and mango together. My epic creation? Greek Turkey Burgers with Yogurt and Feta!

I love the sound of all of the flavors in this turkey burger! That’s a heck of a way to kick up the flavor :D

kristy @ the wicked noodle July 15, 2014 at 6:43 am

My epic burger creation?? I’d have to say blackened beef with blue cheese, balsamic & bacon. Never posted it on my blog though – I need to do that asap! Your burger here looks pretty epic, too – loving the flavors!!

I don’t have an epic burger, but Alex (Stephie’s boy) sure does, only he’s keeping it secret. Haha. Anyway, I need to win this so that I can give it to them. Well, I needed to win that corn stripper, too, but that’s another story. I can’t have a burger without sweet corn.
