Sour Cream Peach Pecan Pie

I’ve got peaches on my mind lately.
Maybe because of this gorgeous bowl of peaches showcased from Heather at Gild the Voodoo(lily). Or maybe because of this mouth watering recipe for Brown Sugar Peach Pancakes from Natasha at 5 Star Foodie.
I’ve also got pie on my mind.
Maybe because I’m still in complete awe of Evan Kleiman (the voice behind the radio program Good Food on KCRW and the chef at Angeli Caffe in Los Angeles) who baked a pie every single day this summer. Hello.
Or maybe because…well, let’s face it – I always have pie on my mind.
Hot diggity dang, wouldn’t you know it, the August/September issue of Taste of Home features a peach pie, of course. Not just any peach pie, however. This peach pie, made by Sherrell Dikes of Arkansas, took first place in the Great American Pie Show.
So, I just had to make it. Not once, but twice.
Oh yeah. It’s good all right.
I still altered it, though. I can’t even leave an award-winning recipe alone. Criminy.
Print my version.

Amy…you and your pie. Ha ha ha. I laughed that you altered a prize winner. Of course you did! And I bet your version is better.
This is good pie. Really good pie. If ice cream wasn’t my favorite dessert, I would say this is my favorite dessert. But ice cream is.
This is really good pie.
Sour cream in pie sounds interesting. I wonder if you could use yogurt instead? I think your photo is better!
Mmm. Peaches and pie. Good morning!
Oh, yum, this pie looks outstanding! We love peaches & pecan pie and to combine it in one delicious treat is heaven! Your picture is gorgeous! Thanks so much for the link :)
This pie looks great! All the combination make it sound like a winner to me for sure!!
I can tell by the ingredients that this pie will be delicious. I would make it right now before I even brush my teeth if only I had peaches, peach preserves, sour cream and pecans. A trip to the market is in order.
OMG! I am LITERALLY drooling right now. I never make pie, but I will be making this…maybe tonight.
For the pie crust, do you buy the frozen ones or the ones in the baking aisle?
Jen – I buy the kind in the freezer, usually comes in a two pack. Gee darn ;-)
I also got pie in mind. My newly bought pie moulds are still lying in the cabinet. This “award-wining” pie recipe is definitely a must-try for me!
That looks so summery and delicious. I wish I had a slice in front of me right now- it wouldn’t last long.
I cannot begin to tell you how good that pie looks! Where do you live, cause I’m coming over!
He baked a pie every single day of summer? Wow! Now that’s a goal! This peach pie looks crazy delicious!
You have just put me very much in the mood for pie. And peaches. That looks absolutely amazing. I wish peach season were longer. Sigh. Have you ever used frozen peaches? I haven’t but I wonder…this looks like something that would make the middle of January infinitely better.
I alter every recipe and I’m constantly laughing about my inability to make something as is. I think that’s the hallmark of being a food blogger.
Joanne – I use frozen fruit a lot. I find, for some recipes, you can’t tell the difference between that and fresh, and obviously it lasts longer in the freezer.
Having said that, though, if you use frozen peaches in this pie, I would make sure you dry them really well after they thaw. You don’t want any extra moisture/liquid or the pie may not set.
I say you make it with frozen peaches and report back!!
this pie sound delish!! drrooolllliinngg!!!
I am soooooo lucky. Jen made this pie last night, and we’re having it tonight. Yea for me!
I can see why this pie would be a winner!!
I have a BIG weakness for pies- I just need to get my hands and do the crusts! This looks awesome and would be a fantastic warm dessert in our weird weather these days…
Oh my, what a gorgeous slice of pie! Is it for me? ;-)
That pie looks and sounds so good!
Well, I finally made this pie — very delicious. Loved the pecans in the topping and the peach preserves for more peach flavor.
A real winner.
I have now made this pie twice. It sets pretty well after it cools, but it sets perfectly after being in the fridge for a while.
So incredibly yummy! It’s now one of Jay’s favorite desserts. :o)
Love the close-up! I’m drooling…
I found your site through Joy The Baker, and have been digging through your archives. I’m SO trying this recipe. What a great site you have, and I’ll be back regularly!
