(This recipe was originally posted a few years ago, but it’s worth further attention in case you missed it!)

It was a little slow coming this year, but I would say winter is finally here.

This is my second winter back in California, after living in Minnesota. And I can officially say, my body has acclimated to the weather. And I think it’s cold. Yes, the high is 55. But when I wake up it’s 32. And technically, that’s freezing. Which is what I am – freezing.
(...)

Me: Why the long face?

Haley: I saw you cutting up cauliflower.

Damn. She wasn’t actually supposed to see that. Just like my Dad isn’t supposed to know my Mom hides cauliflower in some of her dishes *ahem*

Soooo, that was going to be my post – about how much my kids hate cauliflower. How even comparing it to a bride’s flower bouquet isn’t enough to change Haley’s mind. But about how much I love it.
(...)
Continue reading Creamy Cauliflower Cheddar Soup and a Pacific Foods Broth Giveaway!

Our cooking group met again this weekend, with the theme of Fall. Although is it really Fall when it’s still 85 degrees and sunny outside? Perhaps we should have gone with the guys’ original suggestion of a beach/yacht theme. Sounded silly at the time – what do we know?

Too late in the game to revise the entire menu, but I did ditch the hot apple cider. Kept the soup, though.
(...)
Continue reading Creamy Apple Parsnip Soup

I sure didn’t think I’d be talking about soup in April, but you know what – soup does not discriminate when you’re sick. It can be 70 degrees outside, but when your throat is sore and you’re congested, nothing helps like soup.

Haley and I were both feeling pretty lousy yesterday and it kinda sorta rained in the morning. Sprinkled. Drizzled, really. Enough moisture in the air to make my hair poof up into a little ball. Stuffed up nose, coughing, and poofy hair…that’s a soup day, no?
(...)
Continue reading Creamy Chicken Wild Rice Soup
