Superbowl is coming up (and rumor has it there have been some major upsets in the playoffs.) But I imagine even the disappointed will still tune in. Either to root for the underdog, or to hopefully watch the team that demoralized their favorite, get kicked to the curb.

I’ll be in the kitchen, not paying attention, every once in a while showing interest in a commercial. Goodness, is it baseball season YET?????

Yet another dish that I’ve been meaning to post forever. I had the page marked from Everyday Food…then my friend Krysta made it, then Lisa…but Halloween candy consumed my life. And nobody wants to hear (or look at) cauliflower around Halloween. Am I right? So it got buried. Oh, the shame!

Better late than never. And on the up side, I’ve now had a chance to make it a few times, solidifying my love. (Not that there was any doubt the first time, trust me.)

For all of you eye-rollers who grew tired of me writing about my non-fussy, advanced-eating, miniature-foodie daughter, here is your ultimate revenge. Me bitching about her vegetable-hating, picky-eating, candy-obsessed little brother. Payback is sweet, no?

Today’s installment: salad.

Why is lettuce so hard for kids to grasp? I mean, if I told him he could pick a leaf off a tree and eat it, he’d be like, “Really? Cool!” But a plate of leaves from the market is so much less appealing.

So, we say things to him like, “See how your older sister is eating hers?” and “If you want to be big and smart like Daddy…” Oh, and my favorite, which of course is a total lie, “I bet all your friends would enjoy this.” See, peer pressure starts at home!
